Privacy / Solar Panels
At Stone Vos, we like to
consider ourselves as having one of the Nations best crafted RV window
privacy / solar panel's on the market. Our unique " Corner
adjustment "
system, fabric, thread, craftsmanship and assembly puts our
panels out front of the competition in the RV market. Read below
to understand why there is a difference and why many of our
customers enjoy and recommend our privacy / solar window
treatments.
Not all UV blocking material is
created equal. We have researched the many UV blocking fabrics
currently being used for these panels and have selected one
fabric that we use to make all of our solar panels with -
Textilene. As a matter of fact, testing has proven that
Textilene will outlast most other fabrics on the market today
and stand up to harsh conditions while still holding its initial
properties of form, color and UV blocking properties. And while
it looks thick, it's special weave properties provides great
views out your windows.

Standard Cheap
80 % UV fabric |
Textilene 90 %
UV / privacy fabric |
As the illustrations
above show, the cheaper fabric being used by some manufacturers
of privacy / solar panels is light in weight, will not stand the
test of time for holding its color ( fading ) and degrades much
quicker. It also will not provide the UV ray blockage that all
customers are trying to obtain. Textilene on the other hand is a very sturdy fabric and
is a favorite for commercial applications. It's UV blocking
properties is excellent and gives true 90 % UV ray blockage.
Some materials tout a 92 % or higher UV block rate but we have
found 90 % to be the threshold for eliminating the need for
indoor lighting. Otherwise, these fabrics can cause a very dark
interior. Some of these fabrics also do not live up to their
claims and block much less UV rays then stated.
But the fabric alone is not the
only story. We take our panels one step further and employ only
quality, marine grade materials during assembly. UV and weather
resistant thread, acrylic marine grade binding and all weather
velcro and vinyl. We also use nothing but stainless steel and
brass hardware that meets military specifications.
Building Our
Solar Panels
Since we employ the highest grade
of fabric and material it only makes sense to use great care
when sewing these panels together. Every panel we make is custom
built to each RV'ers window. There are many considerations when
making these panels and sometimes generic measurements just will
not work. We also like more overlap on window frames and we
achieve this by custom making each panel to each individual
window.
During the sewing of your panels,
great care is taken to ensure a tough panel that will stand up
to abuse. Consider our competition's panels who think folding
the material over and single
stitching the seam is fine. We want your panels to perform for years to
come so we envelop each edge with acrylic, marine grade binding
and then employ double lock stitching on all binding and corners. We also double stitch our velcro
corners as well which provides our panels added strength and
durability. Proper fabric to binding clearance is assured during
the sewing process as well by utilizing a special attachment
that folds and assures proper fabric placement. Our concern
isn't about pushing our products out the door as fast as we can,
our philosophy is all about taking our time to produce a high
quality product that will last the RV'er for years to come.
After all, you do have a considerable investment in your RV. Let
us help you protect it.

Additional Information
Stone Vos does not manufacturer or recommend use of their
solar / privacy panels for interior installation. Because of the
superior UV blocking capabilities of Textilene, heat buildup can
occur between the fabric and the window pane creating
temperature extremes on the glass that can make double pane
window seals fail. Our extensive testing has also proved that energy
cost savings is more readily achieved by blocking the heat and
sunlight before it enters your RV, not after. Therefore
we will not custom make or knowingly supply or recommend our
panels for inside installation. We assume no responsibility for
any customer who installs our panels on the inside of their RV's
which results in damage to their interior or failure of their
windows / glass. |
